We spent a fun evening on the 29th of May as the featured charity of the Riverdogs. Our unofficial mascot Charlie attended along with lots of other wonderful canine buddies. He lives with Les and Sandy Croland. We set up a table in the food court to visit with everyone about our charity and to sell raffle tickets for a super duper dessert party, delivered right to your door by Sweet Lulu’s Bakery and Cocktail Caravan. Valued at $350, it’s called the “Dine and Dash for 50 of your Best Friends!” (The winner was announced during the 5th inning.)
The game began with the talented Ms. Lauren Reynolds singing the National Anthem. What a beautiful voice she has. Thank you, Lauren. I noticed everyone out in the food court turned toward the flag, removed their hats and placed hands over hearts. A tribute of respect for America and of honor to all veterans who fought and died for our freedom. Heartwarming to see.
Our first veteran who we matched with a dog, Todd Wooten, did the honor of pitching the first ball from the mound to start the game off with a roar. Our hometown Riverdogs were victorious against West Virginia. Our thanks to all for your continuing support!
