Charleston Riverdogs Feature Pets 4 G.I.s At Baseball Game
On Monday, May 7th, PETS4G.I.s was invited to be the Charity of Choice for a Charleston Riverdogs game. The Riverdogs played Lexington, and gave us a great 3-2 win.
On this special night, fans are allowed to bring their dogs to the stadium. This was the second consecutive year for us to participate in this event, and we had more than 170 supporters in attendance who purchased tickets for the game.
We love seeing the dogs and the joy they bring to their families. It’s wonderful to see all the different breeds and how well they get along socially. The evening was also dedicated to the many local Little League teams from around the Lowcountry. We enjoyed seeing the kids, their coaches and families wearing their team t-shirts.
We set up a table in the concourse at the stadium and had the good fortune to visit with lots of folks. Some were already familiar with our story, and some who just wanted to learn about us. Talking to friends, old and new, is always rewarding for us. The first pitch was thrown by Ryan Crawford, a military veteran who recently participated in our program. You can see him and his dog, Priya, in the matches section of this website. Our President, Les Croland, was also interviewed during the third inning in the broadcast booth by Matt Dean, the play-by-play announcer for the RiverDogs, giving us an excellent opportunity to describe our mission to the Charleston RiverDogs radio audience.
Many thanks to the Charleston Riverdogs! We appreciate their efforts to promote our organization, and also thanks to all who stopped by our table to visit with us. As soon as we have another chance to be out and about town, we’ll be sure to post our plans on this website.
